Injection molding process and principle

  • Release time:2023-05-06

The injection molding process is mainly divided into the following steps: raw material treatment, mold manufacturing, injection molding process, cooling and demolding, subsequent processing and inspection. The following will provide a specific introduction to these steps.

  1. Raw material processing: This step requires analysis and screening of plastic raw materials to determine the type and processing conditions of plastics, including parameters such as melting point, fluidity, shrinkage rate, etc. At the same time, the raw materials need to be chopped, dried, mixed, and processed into granules.

  2. Mold manufacturing: According to the design requirements of the product, create suitable molds. Generally, molds are divided into upper and lower molds, and each mold requires high-precision manufacturing and polishing to ensure the quality and stability of the injection molding process.

  3. Injection molding process: Heat the raw material particles to a molten state, and then press them into the mold to fill the entire mold space to achieve the desired shape and size. The injection molding machine controls the injection process through pressure, temperature, and speed to maintain the stability of the injection position and time, ensuring the smooth completion of one injection.

  4. Cooling and demolding: After the plastic is injected into the mold, it is necessary to wait for a few seconds to a few minutes to allow the plastic to cool and solidify. Subsequently, separate the lower mold from the upper mold to remove the finished product.

  5. Subsequent processing and inspection: The finished product needs to be further trimmed and cleaned to ensure quality and appearance, and then inspected. The inspection standards include dimensions, weight, quality, and other aspects to ensure that each product meets the requirements.

The principle of injection molding process is based on various factors such as melting point, fluidity, and cooling time. During the injection molding process, multiple parameters such as temperature, pressure, and injection speed need to be controlled to ensure the production of high-quality and compliant finished products. Injection molding also requires the use of CAD, CAM, CAE and other software to establish three-dimensional models and analyze simulation data to improve product quality and production efficiency.
